Notes On F8, the Bruising Above the Right Eye, etc

The picture below shows the location of the flap visible in the boh pictures (see above). Below, it is outlined (rather faintly) in yellow. The '???' area presents some problems in interpretation. A large piece of frontal bone is missing entirely. Details here.

Left below, the location of the large bone frag forming most of the front flap is outlined (roughly) in yellow. The red line represents the position of the edge of the forehead bone on F8. Right below, the lhs of the picture is taken from F8, the rhs is from the boh pictures. The blue, yellow & green lines link what I take to be identical points on the front flap. For eg, the yellow line joins the flap 'point' on F8 to the flap 'point' on the boh picture of the flap. The red line on the detail from F8 would fall beneath the red line on the superior profile (left below).

The 'white outlined bone frags area' appears not to be present at all on F8. The brain has not been removed in the sup. profile (below left) but obviously has in F8 (below right). Presumably these frags of bone were removed when the brain was removed.

The bruising is seen better (below), where I have upped the contrast in the area of the bruising. The autopsy report talks of ' abnormal mobility of the underlying bone' in this area. "There is edema and
ecchymosis diffusely over the right supra-orbital ridge with abnormal
mobility of the underlying bone. " (Autopsy Report)

Below, the AP x-ray shows the front right flap seen 'head on' (arrowed).
